WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AT RICHMOND DRIVING LESSONS
1. THE FIRST LESSON
For the first lesson, we will pick you up and take you to a safe location with no traffic, so you can master the controls in a safe environment. Rest assured, with our driving lessons in Richmond there is no chance of collision or danger, and you will pick up the basics very quickly.
2. THE NEXT STAGE
The next stage is to learn to apply these lessons to real world driving. Observation, and really seeing other vehicles, pedestrians, and hazards, so you can anticipate their next movements. Negotiating roundabouts, junctions, and other hazards is all about observation. Using your mirrors, checking blind spots, and anticipating other drivers takes practice, and we will guide you through this with precision and patience.
3. PREPARE FOR DRIVING EXAMS
Once we both feel you are safe and confident driving on both busy and quiet roads, we will then begin to prepare you for your driving examinations. When you learn to drive in Richmond with us, we will talk you through all the manoeuvres you may be tested on and help you practice them in safe situations. We will also help you prepare for your theory test, and the Hazard Perception Test.
4. MOCK DRIVING TEST
We will also carry out a full mock driving test with you. This will help to gauge if you are ready to take your full test, and also help to prepare you for the environment and pressure of your Practical Driving Examination. We take your mock test very seriously, giving you the best possible chance of succeeding in the real thing.
Frequently asked questions
How many lessons will I need?
On average it takes around 30 lessons to be able to pass the test, but this varies with age, enthusiasm, and adeptness. It is important to remember that there is more to learning to drive than passing the test. Mastering all the aspects of car control, observation, safety, theory and practice takes time, and the longer it takes the more you’ll pick up along the way.
What do I need to bring to my lessons?
On your first lesson, please have your provisional licence to hand, as you will need this to be legally allowed to drive, even as a learner.
How do I apply for a Provisional Licence?
You can apply for a Provisional Driver’s Licence here, at the Government website. It costs £34 to apply online, and £43 by post. Once you have this, you can learn to drive in Richmond with us!
Can I do an intensive driving course?
Yes. If you need to learn to drive quickly, and have the enthusiasm to apply yourself through a lot of driving lessons in a short period of time, then intensive lesson plans can be very helpful. By having a lot of lessons in succession, it gives you the opportunity to build on what have learned and gain good driving habits and experience more quickly.
